In this solo episode, I walk you through the process of choosing a new fitness program step-by-step, and give you an insider’s look at the fitness business.

When it comes choosing a gym or a personal trainer, I give you a checklist of 10 essential things you should look for and the questions to ask when you are shopping around.
As an added bonus, I’ll share with you my top tips for choosing a CrossFit gym, and some of the mistakes I’ve made when trying to grow my business, and some red flags to keep en eye out for.

More About Tania
Tania (that’s me!) is the founder and owner of North Star Fitness, originally CrossFit Winnipeg. After overcoming major health problems in her late teens and early twenties, Tania was able to successfully treat her mood disorder with lifestyle, exercise, and nutrition, where CrossFit played an essential role in her recovery. Tania left her career in as an analyst to help others do the same, and CrossFit Winnipeg was born in 2008, and opened its doors at its first location on Des Meurons in 2009.
Since then, CrossFit Winnipeg has helped thousands through various fitness and lifestyle programs including CrossFit, bootcamp, youth programs, 50+ programs, personal training and so much more. In 2019, we launched North Star Fitness as the home of CrossFit Winnipeg, and the many other programs offered in house, including personal training, Mommy & Me, Youth programs, and partnerships with Deezar-Raval Physiotherapy, Dakota Weightlifting Club, and Legendary Living Arts.
Tania now splits her time between training clients and mentoring her team at North Star Fitness, teaching courses such as Kettlebells as an Agatsu Fitness Senior Instructor, and creating fitness and wellness content. Tania writes a bi-weekly column in the Can Star community newspaper, weekly North Star Fitness Blogs and e-mail newsletters, and YouTube videos. Tania is also available for speaking engagements, and gives talks on mental health, self-care, and fitness and wellness in general.
