Coach’s Tips

CFW testing week continues. Today we work on explosive power. You can do the parts in either order but my take on this is that high box jumps are probably a great way to warm-up your clean.  If you are new to CFW, i.e. less than 6 months, or are still in the process of figuring out the Olympic lifts, please ask the coach for some skill work instead of building to a 1RM on the power clean. This might include pulls, work from blocks or the hang, amongst other things.  If you have a condition or injury that precludes you from jumping, such as ankles, knees or lower back issues, take it easy on the box jumps or ask the coach for alternatives.
