4 Surprising Ways Exercise Benefits You

We all know that exercise is important for our health. But sometimes, it can be tough to stick to a routine. Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day–results from exercise take time and consistency to show. However, if you stick with it, working out can drastically change your life for the better in more ways than one. North Star Fitness is dedicated to helping our members reach their fitness goals, and we’ll be there every step! Check out how regular exercise can benefit you below. If you have questions or need assistance at any point, don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

Exercise Improves Your Mood and Reduces Stress Levels

We all know that endorphins are released when we exercise, which leads to that post-workout “high.” But you may not know that exercise can also help reduce stress levels and improve your mood on a more long-term basis. So if you’re feeling stressed out, try going for a run or heading to the gym for a workout–you’ll likely notice a difference in how you feel afterward.

Exercise Boosts Brain Power and Memory

As we get older, it’s normal for our memory and cognitive abilities to decline somewhat. However, research has shown that regular exercise can help to slow down this process. Exercise increases blood flow and oxygen to the brain, which helps to improve brain function. So if you want to keep your mind sharp, get moving!

Exercise Can Help You Sleep Better

If you’re struggling with insomnia or other sleep issues, exercise may be able to help. Exercise can improve your sleep quality and help you fall asleep more easily. However, make sure not to work out too close to bedtime, as this can have the opposite effect.

Exercise Reduces Your Risk of Chronic Disease

Chronic diseases like heart disease, stroke, and type II diabetes are some of Canada’s leading causes of death. But did you know that regular exercise can help to reduce your risk of developing these conditions? Exercise helps to improve blood sugar control, lowers blood pressure, and improves cholesterol levels. So if you want to protect your health, keep moving!

These are just a few ways that regular exercise can benefit you. So what are you waiting for? Get out there and start moving! North Star Fitness is here to help you every step of the way. Contact us today to learn more about our training services in Winnipeg. I started CrossFit in 2012 and like many others got addicted to the methodology, to the community and to the physical and mental changes I have seen on myself. I complete my L1 CrossFit Trainer certificate in 2015 and the L2 In 2019. Most of all I love following athletes from when they show up on their first class not yet realizing their potential and then helping achieve greatness.

Not lifting heavy weights because you think it’s going to make you “bulky” is like saying you don’t want to drive your car because you may turn into a professional NASCAR driver. Changing your mindset and approach to strength training will help you have fun and experience longevity.
With his dedication to health and fitness along with showing others the benefits to strength training, Christian will help you reach your fitness goals or get back into shape so you can continue to do the things that you love.

seth Giesbrecht

Level 1 coach

Seth Giesbrecht is new to personal training. He is enthusiastic and energetic to help people reach their goals and better themselves. Seth knew no matter what he did in life, he wanted to help people and developed a passion for teaching on his journey to receiving this third-degree black belt in taekwondo where a greater emphasis was placed on teaching to pass on tradition of the art through verbal and physical ques and demonstration for children 5+, youth, and adults.
Diagnosed with ADHD from a young age and having difficulty focusing, Seth learned how important nutrition, fitness, and consistency was in helping with focus, and that there were different ways of learning. Always involved in sports and never able to sit still or focus, combined with being so short and skinny for such a long time due to genetics and not eating much as a side effect to ADHD medication, Seth learned that he could naturally fix focus with nutrition and structure which had no side effects and did not mitigate hunger. Martial arts and body weight training (calisthenics) became his therapy and through taekwondo Seth found he was able to help others understand concepts outside of the teaching methods he found difficult to learn from in school and university, and build confidence. Not only did Seth always enjoyed encouraging others and find it natural to connect with each person, through learning to teach martial arts he learned his ability to connect with others and from this teach in ways that were different then the traditional lecture he had struggled with. He was able to connect with people who had difficulty focusing or grasping certain concepts and from his experience knew the encouragement and patience others needed, that they just needed to be taught by their learning style, and how to be more engaging and explain in different ways. Growing a passion for functional fitness through reaching his martial arts goals with calisthenics, Seth decided he wanted to become a personal trainer. Always finding it easy to connect with people and enjoying pushing others to reach their personal goals and potential aligned with the personal training job description, and fit his personality and goals perfectly.
Seth believes fitness is something that everyone can enjoy when it is practical and sustainable. If you want to live a healthier lifestyle, let him help you reach your goals and learn to maintain them.
